Getting to Messezentrum Salzburg

  • Arriving by public transport

Messezentrum Salzburg and the Salzburgarena are excellently linked up to the public transport network.

    • The no.1 trolleybus stops right outside the exhibition centre at the ‘Messe’ bus stop. During events there is also a direct trolleybus service to and from the ‘Salzburgarena’ bus stop.
    • The no.7 trolleybus stops right next to the exhibition centre at the ‘Bessarabierstrasse’ bus stop.
    • The no.8 trolleybus drives as far as the ‘Bessarabierstrasse’ bus stop. On Saturdays and school holidays it also serves the ‘Messezentrum’ and ‘Salzburgarena’ bus stops.

The Salzburger Verkehrsverbund route planner enables you to find the quickest public transport connections.

Free bus tickets for Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH exhibitions

Free public transport tickets can be obtained for the trolleybus to and from the expo centre for fairs staged by Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH. Ticket only valid in printed form.

  • Arriving by rail

Salzburg’s main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) is a key traffic hub for the western half of Austria and is fully integrated into the German Deutsche Bahn rail network. Taxis, public transport options and car hire offices are all available at the station.

  • Arriving on foot or on a bicycle

Messezentrum Salzburg expo centre and the Salzburgarena venue are approximately 30 minutes’ walk from the old town, a 20-minute walk from the railway station, and are easily reached using the comprehensive network of cycle paths.

Bicycle stands are available at the venue.

  • Arriving by air

Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart is approximately 4 km away from Messezentrum Salzburg. Named after the world-famous composer, the airport was opened in 1926 and is now the second-largest airport in Austria. There are taxis, public transport options and car hire companies at the airport.

  • Arriving by car

Messezentrum Salzburg and Salzburgarena are both located alongside the A1 motorway. They can both be accessed by leaving the motorway at the exit marked Messe. The route to the venue is clearly signposted in the city and on the motorway.

Please note: Toll road stickers are obligatory on Austrian motorways
Toll road stickers must be purchased and displayed on all Austrian motorways! These self-adhesive stickers can be purchased for 1 year, for 2 months or for 10 days and must be clearly mounted in the prescribed position inside your windscreen. Stickers can be purchased at most Austrian fuel stations.

Arrivals without a TOLL STICKER: From Germany via the German A8 motorway:

    1. Take A8 exit no.115 to Bad Reichenhall and follow the B20 in the direction of Freilassing
    2. Follow signs to Salzburg
    3. Drive straight across the ‘Salzburg Mitte’ roundabout (2nd exit) in the direction of Salzburg
    4. 500m after the roundabout get into the left lane as you come alongside the ENI fuel station
    5. Turn left at the lights in the direction of Messezentrum Salzburg (approx. 600 m)
